We Should Not Forget 2020

As we wind down the year that has been 2020, I want to ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on what the previous 12 months has brought and taught. We started the year with hopes of a better tomorrow just like every year, and it quickly changed. It’s been a year of strong opinions and differences, struggles, and more that have divided friends and family alike. A pandemic, financial crisis, cultural divide, violence, despair, despression, anxiety, and more. As with every year, most everyone enters the next year having lost loved ones, whether they were friends, family, co-workers, or other associates. We saw lives destroyed from shutdowns and businesses closing forever. Many of us lost loved ones to a virus that for most has virtually no effect while others will suffer life-long medical issues and some entered hospitals to never feel the touch of a loved one again. We saw repeated stories of loved ones dying together while holding hands or separated to never touch again after decades of marriage and companionship. People literally died of broken hearts.

It’s time to try to heal as humans, a country, and as a world. It’s time to bring families and friends back together. To rebuild what has been lost. To find a way to work through and advance as a society. It’s time to stop judging and attacking others for their beliefs. It’s time to love and be loved. It’s time to return to everyday kindness and not just kindness to recognize certain groups of people. Every person and every job is essential. Every human and every life is essential. It’s time to think about your Judgement Day as a day when you may be seated across from the person you SHOULD have been to see how you compare with how you lived your life. To see if your reflection in the mirror is also what others see.

Respect is the one of the biggest problems our world has always faced. Lack of respect drives many of the problems that result in conflict, judgement, and hatred. Let’s learn to respect more and judge less. By respecting more and judging less we only stand to improve our world and there are no negatives to doing so. Think about that–how powerful is it that we can change our world by simply making a choice every day to respect and love others rather than by judging? Without emotions, the Earth simple exists. If all of mankind were wiped from Earth today, all emotions go with it. That means the society we live in today is as it exists because we CHOOSE to make it that way.

I finish this year having experienced and witnessed many of the events and emotions I have described. I am not without fault and I suspect most everyone can relate to the past year as I have described. I want to take this opportunity to ask everyone to join me in a commitment to make 2021 such a great year that 2020 is not forgotten, but kept as reminder that everything can change in an instant. Your world, our world, can be changed forever without warning.

I named my little company “484 Brands” because of what 2020 has brought and taught me. Those numbers represent the number of letters in the words Love, Kindness, and Hope and is really a formula spelled out as LOVE + KINDNESS = HOPE. When you combine love and kindness, it shows the world there is hope for all humanity. Be loving and kind to others and the only thing they can realize is there is not only hope for them, but hope for the world. Make every day in 2021 count. That’s all I can ask of everyone. Our world is what we choose for it to be. Choose love, respect, and kindness. If we are going to cancel something, cancel judgement.

Click the Facebook icon on the right side or bottom of your screen and share. Help me teach the world that Love and Kindness bring hope. I beg all of you. Our children are watching and learning.

Matthew 7:1-2 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Everyone has a choice, they may not always be great choices but a choice nonetheless. Your choices decide how your life is affected.

    1. As far as a grand opening, the site is open for general registration. I’m not sure where this will lead at this point. I have some loose plans and working on some more features. We’ll see how it evolves over time.

  2. Beautifully written and so full of truth! This year has been really hard for me. I lost my younger brother from brain cancer in July and an aunt and 4 friends in a three month time span. I’m devastated but choose to honor their memory by being kind, helping in ways that are needed, and just finding joy in every day little things. Excited to see what your little company brings to the future. Merry Christmas to you and Tammi.

  5. Thank you Troy for a wonderful message of “hope”! My eyes are leaking a lil bit because of the pain of 2020 – lost to many family members and a few friends – some to COVID, some to other issues/illness they had. But the most important one, was my Father-In-Law, whom I truly believe, lost his will to live and died of a broken heart!! Both hubby and I are only children, whom could not have children, so life has become very precious to us.
I love reading your writings, you express yourself so thoughtfully. Thank you Troy, and I am going to share this – Thank you again, and Merry Christmas a Blessed New Year to you and your family.

  7. Thank you so much for this! You so eloquently said what I’ve been feeling these past few months. I think we need to focus on gratitude and good. If we do will heats will heal. When we focus on the positive we don’t have time to focus on other things. ❤️ May your life be blessed for your good heart through the new adventures of your life. You have made an impact on my life, not just with vinyl but with your example.

  8. Thank you Troy, beautiful words spoken and so true. When my beautiful daughter left this earth to go home to her Savior and Lord in 2017 it changed my perspective on many things in life. If only we could see hearts instead of everything else we tend to see people as, the world would be a much better place. Blessings to you and yours now and in the new year. Sincerely, Pam Talaga

  9. 2020 has been a very difficult time. We have seen so much sadness. It is my opinion that the way to look atjo life as we know it now is a learning and growing experience. If we are consistently learning, then we have hope. Hope and kindness are contagious. Spread it like covid. The only way to be positive about our lives is to believe in God, and you will get through and build hope for the future.. We must look for the good in all things. My God bless you Troy and your family. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2021. Your following are with you. We respect you and have great wishes for your new venture.

Getting through last year and then 2020 has left me totally broken. I am hoping and praying for a total healing year. The best to you and your family. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  12. Troy truer words were never spoken or needed. Blessings to you and yours and may you have a beautiful Christmas filled with love. Thank you.

  13. Great things to think about and ponder. This year has been fraught with struggles, frustration, disappointment, loss and confusion. I hope that next year brings peace to our hearts, souls, and minds. Looking forward to great things for you and your family.

  14. This year has definitely been a troubling one for all..adults and children. With the new year coming i plan on doing 365 days of kindness with my children and encouraging others to do the same. All it takes is one simple gesture to brighten someone else’s day. At the end of the year you will have blessed at least 365 people with the joy of happiness one day at a time.
